Just back from the Cross Stitch Week-End away in Leeds with the Cross Stitch Guild. There were about 40 ladies here for the Week-End and 5 ladies who came for the Saturday class. We were given a Christmas Hardanger Biscornu to stitch on linen. I have had a go, but have not finished it yet. I find counting on linen a bit difficult, but I am determined to get it correct (even if it takes a little longer). We was also given 2 pieces of aida with a chart of 4 Christmas designs to choose from. Needless to say I started on this one first. I still have not finished this. I Should complete it very soon.
The worst thing about the week-end away was that it ended too quickly. You wonder where all the time has gone. One of the best things was meeting old and making new friends.
My stash has grown. I managed to buy some perle threads, which I am having great difficulty in getting, in some lovely colours. Some mixed bundles of Caron threads. A magnetic board on a stand. A pair of scissors for cutting hardanger. Some Cross Stitch Kits. Some bundles of aida in different colours. etc etc.
On the Sunday we had a raffle, to which I got 10 pieces of aida material in different colours. (You will now see more coloured aida with my cross stitching on.) Also we were asked to bring along some of our embroidery. I showed quite a few at the "Bring and Brag". Some of them are on my gallery. Most had not seen Wessex Stitchery before and were intrigued with it.
Hopefully I will be able to go again next year. It’s been three years since I last went.
