Wrinkles in 18 count finished project will not wash or iron away.

I have recently finished a Christmas stocking. I used 18 count Aida and cross stitched a child's name at the top, and 9 individual characters joined with a string of lights on the main part of the stocking. I used a hoop and 2 strands of thread when working the patterns. I washed, air dried, and ironed the finished project. There are now vertical wrinkles in the stitched and unstitched areas. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to remove the wrinkles. I am accomplished in cross stitch and have never experienced this frustrating problem before.

I would wet it down again, and before it dries, put it upside down on a clean towel, and press until dry. This hopefully will help...

I also believe that here on the board someone mentioned that wetting and placing in the freezer then follow Wilma's information of putting it upside down and pressing till dry is suppose to work..

Mist and put in the freezer overnight. Then press with a warm iron.

That was me with the freezer suggestion, it was the only way to get the wrinkles out of Navy khakis back in the 1960's...my grandmother taught my mother the trick.
