I tried to find info about this before posting but didn't find anything directly related to DMC. So, here it goes....what do you think about stitching with DMC rayon floss? Do you love it/hate it? Why? What are some tips that you would give someone wanting to stitch with it?
Since a certain enabler on this board has come up with a very tempting SAL:inno, I was thinking about using a rayon thread for the single color version of the project. I haven't ever stitched with anything but regular DMC floss. So, any input would be helpful. Thanks.:flower:

I have used it and it does give a rather nice effect. However it does tend to have a life of its own. I used shorter lengths to eliminate the tangling. Once you get used to it it is nice to stitch with.
I used it on the Mermaid in my gallery. It is the light ecru in the border of the design.

I love it, but I use shorter strands and go slowly.... it has a tendency to tangle and "jump" (can't think of any other way to describe it).
The feel like a dream! And the shine! *awesome*
The best selection of colors is online like at 123 Stitch (http://www.123stitch.com/threads.html#rayon).

Be sure you try a small sample first to be sure you like working with it. As the others have said, it produces a nice finish, but it's not as 'comfortable' to stitch with as regular DMC cotton floss.

I love it. I just use short lenghts and thread heaven. You can also us a good bee's wax too. This helps out a lot!!!! Have fun trying it out.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I might pick up a skein and try it on something small to see if I like it or not.

I would certainly recommend using thread heaven with it.

My only experience with rayon floss was not happy, but I didn't have Thread Heaven back then. Maybe I'll have to give it another try. I like the sheen, yet it's not as expensive as silk.

The sheen is beautiful; as others have said, Thread Heaven makes it behave. If you can't get your hands on any wet your fingers and run them along the rayon. Not as good but better than nothing.
