I need help!

I am trying to fulfill a request for my "floss kid" and I need some help. On her list, she has color # 505. (By the way, I'm talking about DMC floss.) Anyway, I went to Joann's the other day and they have no color number 505. There isn't even a spot for 505! I went to my LNS today and Nancy told me that there is no color number 505. However, on the DMC website 505 is listed as a valid color (a dark jade green, I believe). Thinking that she might have meant 504, I entered that number and DMC says that number doesn't exist -- but Joann's has LOTS of it on hand. So, does anyone know the status of #505? Can another color be substituted for 505? I really don't want to disappoint Rita!:confusion

There is a DMC 505. It is listed as a jade green in my PCStitch Pro! It's a darker Jade than 504.

505 is JAde Green, as I've yet to use it in a pattern I haven't had to purchase any new , 504 is a discontinued number it has been changed to 3616.

This website is Australian and still has it available...it shows what colour it looks like

Hello Debbie, can you believe this. I went to Walmart when they were selling all of their floss for 10 cents and bought it. And my daughter and I just sat down and sorted it all out by numbers to see if we could help you out any. And can you believe I did not have one 505 in all of that floss that I have:sad:

I have just checked my stash and found I have a 505 which is called Jade green and no 504. I checked my list of DMC threads and 504 is crossed out which means it must be discontinued. 504 was Very Light Blue Green. Hope this helps.

I have 504 but no 505. Hoping to go to AC Moore tomorrow, if I do I'll have a look see for it.

Thanks to all of you for being so helpful! Here's the latest in my saga: after seeing the posts that verified to me that 505 is indeed a valid color, I decided to make some phone calls to another shop I know. At first the woman who answered the phone said no, there is no 505. Then she said to hold while she checked another spot. Sure enough, it was located in the area where they have the new colors! The shop is over 50 miles from me, but she put the skein aside and the next time DH drives the carpool for work, he will take his lunch hour to go pick it up for me.

Also, 504 is indeed now a discontinued number, but apparently will be available for purchase until it is gone. However, another thing I discovered through all of this is that 504 (and 503) are two colors that were "reformulated" a while back. What I have in my collection is not even close to the current colors. These colors now are in the blue-green family. The old ones are very light true greens. Be sure to check which color your pattern REALLY wants when you are supposed to use these colors.:wink:

I am glad that you were able to locate this color but at such an distance. I too did find an 504 while my daughter and I were digging around all of that floss
