I am in the US and the only places I can find DMC floss near me is at either AC Moore craft store or Micheals Craft store.
Well AC Moore is now 36 cents a skien..not sure about Micheals..haven't been in awhile but last time I was they were out of most colors.
So are there anyone online stores that accept pay pal that with shipping included..the price is less than 36 cents a skien?

thanks in advance.

About 95cents here but can come down to about 79cents sometimes.
I know that is not answering your question.

I believe micheals has floss on sale 4 for $1 this week

You don't know how lucky you are in the USA. In some countries in Europe we will often have to pay more than 6 times 36 cents for one skein. I could probably finance a trip to the US with the money I save if I bought a life time's worth of DMC threads while I was there.
:travel

I am sorry if you think it's becoming too expensive for you though, and hope you can find somewhere
less expensive.

According to the ads I have read recently, the normal price at Michael's is 33 cents and it is normally 25 cents a skein at JoAnns. The last I heard, the price at Hobby Lobby was 29 cents a skein.

To bad we don't have Walmart anymore. They were 24 cents before they decided to put them on clearance at 10 cents. My local Walmart still had that same small box of leftover floss sitting on the fabric cutting table.

Like Nutte I hope you can find a cheaper shop but again like her I must say in the US you're really like about it. I'm italian and here in Italy we pay about 1 € a skien (about 1,47 US $).
I hope this can console you a bit.

Those prices sound right in line with what we've got in Virginia, Diane.

I do remember a while back being in Michael's and seeing it at 40cents a skein. I did a double take on that, you'd better believe. The last time I was there, several months ago, it was back down to 33 cents. I guess they figured out that with a Joanne's a mile away selling it for a quarter and a WalMart almost next door selling it for 24 cents, they'd have to lower their prices if they expected to sell any. But they're too far from home for me to deal with them very often, anyway.

The closest town to where I live has a Ben Franklin's selling it for 35 cents, which isn't too bad. That's what they charged for it back before WalMart came to town, so I figure that's a pretty good price since it hasn't increased in 10 years.

Enjoy your prices. I don't know if with 1€=1.5 USD they'll be able to keep them for too long. ( I shold ask my floss mom for skeins just in case)

Yikes, when did Hobby Lobby go up to 29 cents? Last I looked it was
4/$1. Even then, I won't need to buy any floss for a while. I stocked up when Wal-mart was down-sizing their cs dept. got TONS for 10 cents. DH thought I was crazy. Guess again, sweetie. :)

I find the best prices on an english site, which sell the DMC thread at 0.96 US dollard. If there is anywhere in america with your prices and that will deliver europe, I´ll have the internet site please!!! Thank you!

Thinking about another sale at JoAnn's and buying a few more skeins of floss, I suddenly had this terrifying thought:nogood Ok, let's see if you can follow my logic... Lot's of us bought floss at Walmart because they were clearancing it... Therefore lot's of us won't be needing as much floss in the next year or so... JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby have both recently cut back on the number of books and kits they sell. So, if floss sales go down because we've all stocked up, corporate might decide nobody wants floss anymore and decide to discontinue it at other places as well. So, my solution? Stitch twice as much and buy more floss!:clever That's bound to be logic your Dh can understand:v-happy:

Love to stitch but hard to do without the floss.... My local store sells DMC floss at 69 cents a skein, the local Michaels sells it at 3 for a Dollar (sale price) and if I remember correctly Herrschners sells it for 35 cents (check out their website - they now have a Canadian website as well as the original one started in the States). I can't complain about the cost because I inherited :tears: a friends stash which included a lot of floss so I haven't had to buy any in a couple of years (and yes, I do share this bounty with my family and friends). They do love it when they come to my house for stitching and "shop" for floss.

Take care

Hi,
Here in Jakarta, the local shop (Hobby Craft Studio)
sells Rp. 4.000,-/DMC skein.
That would be around USD 42 cents, & rarely on sale :irked:

I just went to Hobby Lobby here on Monday and got my floss for 4/$1.00 on sale. Guess I didn't realize how lucky that was. I was sad to see that Walmart discontinued it. If I had realized in time I would've stocked up also.

I would suggest checking ebay for floss. Sometimes you can get it in a lot with a variety of colors for a good price. And sometimes you can either get it shipped out of the US or make arrangements with the seller to do that if they didn't already.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

I've been doing cross stitch all day, since the gym is closed, the grocery store is closed and I cooked all day yesterday and made the family eat leftovers today. I must have about six bucks worth of three inch lengths of floss on my nightstand. Leftovers of floss.

Wow I can't imagine trying to stitch with the floss costing so much. I have signed up to be a floss mom for 3 different people and got no response on any of them. If anyone is in need of floss, let me know and I will do what I can to help out in purchasing and shipping it to you. I think it would just be a shame to be bit by the stitching bug and not have the resources to get the floss.

Happy to help out a fellow stitcher in need!

Anyone in the US that subscribe to the Cross Stitcher magazine can join the Amos Advantage club and get supplies at a reduced price. I have not checked it out yet but they advertize it in all their latest magazines. Might check it out when I have the time.

Michaels here usually sells floss at .33 cents a skein, Hobby Lobby is selling it for .25 cents a skein.
I have a friend who used to own a LNS but has since closed the actual shop and sells on-line. I was telling her about a HEAD design I was going to do, needing 96 skeins of floss. She offered to sell me them for .10 a skein! Wow, what a bargain. I’m sure her eyes popped out when I gave her my list of numbers. I do most all of my orders through her if I can. I am sure she lost profit on that sale so I support her by being a regular customer.:support:

Wow. That's a lot of floss! Is that going to be 96 colors or are there duplicates of single colors? Sounds like a very ambitious project. Good luck with it!

I'm doing a project that uses 108 colors. I don't remember for sure if there are multiple skeins of any colors but Probably 3799 will need several. It's an aghan and has been a WIP for several years! I bought the floss at Hobby Lobby. I tried to get it as a kit but got mad when "The Stitchery" kept changing the shipping date and finally canceled the order. I use the internet to find the leaflet and the speical afghan fabric needed. It was cheaper than the kit but still about $100.00 for everything.

Hi I live in Brisbane, which is in Queensland Australia. The price I pay for my cottons is $1.05 skein. I have seen some of my local craft shop’s sell them for up to $1.50 – 1.95 a skein. Although about 12 months ago a craft store here lincraft had a sale on the skeins were 60 cents. So my mother and I raced over and when we got there and I got to the checkout they had reduced the skeins by over half. They came down to 20 cents a skein. So mum and I turned around went back in and I was able to by the rest. This meant that with the cotton’s I had at home and the ones I had just brought I now have the complete range of DMC cottons. So now when I run out of a colour I just replace it and all is good. It makes it easer when I am starting a new project to, I don’t have to run out to the shop. :)

Esparenza, I did not see any duplicate colors when I made the list. You should take a look at HAED -that is an acronym for Heaven and Earth Designs on the web. I have not seen any designs on their site without at least that many color requirements! And to top off the fun, it is over one on 25 count lugana! lol I have it gridded and just need to finish the Angle of Grace first. It should not be too long now.

I have seen their designs at my favorite online needlework store. I must say, you either have better eyes or much more patience than I do to attempt one of these designs! Some of them look so difficult! I imagine the sense of satisfaction of finishing one of these masterpieces must be immense. Good luck in this endeavor! I'm sticking to Prairie Schooler...whole stitches, limited colors. I'm such a wimp!

Wow Becker! Talk about being in the right place at the right time :]
I have a Spotlight nearby and they sell floss for 99c, but I buy most of mine on ebay for 65c from a lady at Canungra. She has the full range.
There is a Lincraft and Riot Crafts at Pacific Fair, but I don't get there very often and they are also $1.

I pay $1.36, luckily I have a floss mom, and ebay when I am really stuck! Fabric is a ridiculous price too, and I am running low. Time to start planning my 'but I really need it...' excuses!!

Esperanza, I LOVE Prairie Schooler! Those are the charts I do the most! I have a whole stack of them on my to do list. They are easy to do and seem to go very quickly, at least for me. I have never done a HAED design before but some of them are so beautiful I just had to try one. I also think the 25% discount sale helped me decide. lol I have not yet started the HAED as I want to finish off my angel but I suspect this will be a WIP for a LONG time. When I get going I will post my progress either here or on Webshots.:v-happy:

DMC threads here in NZ at the cheapest (not on sale) I pay $1.20 per skein, on sale it is about $1.00. However, at my closest store it's actually $1.40 per skein. That works out about 95c US and about 40p (UK).

Yes, Prairie Schooler are wonderful designs. They aren't fancy but I just love them, especially the older designs. I'm not crazy about some of her new stuff but I keep going back to ebay to buy the oldies! Maybe in 20 years I'll be on ebay buying the stuff she's publishing now and kick myself for not getting it when I had the chance! This assumes I can still see when I'm 73. I hope I can!!!

Here in South Africa, I pay R3.95 per skein (standard colours) at Aladdin's Cave in East Rand Mall or R3.50 at Golden Stitches in Randburg.

Unfortunately I have to travel when I require floss. Now when it comes to Metallics, they are usually between R17.99 and R25.99 depending where I get them from and as a result only buy them when absolutely needed.

Also, at Aladdin's, the new colour variations are R9.95 rand a skein, to which I have all the colours and I collected them over time.

There was a "sale" on here at the local craft chain store (Spotlight) that had 20% off all threads (DMC & Anchor). So, I went along and picked some up thinking they'd be $1 (normally $1.20) only to find out the price is up to $1.60 EACH!!! That's ridiculous!!

Michaels is the largest source around here, and the price is now 49 cents. They used to have 3 for $1 sales on a fairly regular basis, but not for a while now. The local craft shop charges 69 cents.

Several years ago, I bought the supplies from a local store going out of business. I paid 20 cents each for about 500 skeins - everything he had left. Now I keep at least two of every colour on hand, so no running out for new colours.

I forgot to put my price in US$ to make it comparable. It's about 70c to 80c per skein of thread. The cheapest I can currently get it for was with the sale on the other day and that still made it 64c which is only barely cheaper than your sale price, but considerably more when it's not on sale!!
