NOTE: This thread has lost its base post. The first post is my *reply* to the first post.

I doubt it as Gentle Art threads are hand-dyed (you just can't achieve same effect with regular embroidery floss), and Google didn't give anything suitable.

But, they are wonderful to work with...

Look for the ones that say 'sampler threads' in Birthe's list of specific thread conversions. But those lists are not complete. You may want to link to their site. They have a very good display of the colors and you can perhaps determine your own matches to DMC:

Thanks AnnieB

As much as I would like to try them myself, unfortuantly money is tight, so I have to stick with what threads I have, and I have found a lovley pattern but it only lists those threads.

I understand. I just meant that you could pick your own DMC colors by looking at the colors on the Gentle Arts site. Some people will select two different DMC colors to represent the Gental Arts colors and put one of each strand through the needle (called 'tweeding') to get the blended effect of the gentle arts threads. But Birthe's links should include most of what you want.

I printed out a copy because I have some freebie charts that I hope to be able to work on now.

I know that this is such an old post however wanted to say thank you for the information, I purchased a pattern from patternsonline and the owener forget her name  used TGA thread and I had no clue as to what it was usually use DMC as this is pretty much all that I can find here, and decided to goole the name of the thread and ran across this information talking about happy to be a member, trust me I was and read this and low and behold the ??? was answered on what DMC thread this would be, one day if I run across another pattern that calls for this thread maybe I will be able to purchse it then. Thnx again for the help did print out the page!

Thanks for the conversion link...I also printed it for future reference. Some JCS Ornament Magazines designs call for these threads so it's Great to have a DMC alternative...:)
